If you want to improve appearance of your teeth and smile, Dr. Citrin provides cosmetic procedures designed to improve the look and function of your teeth. Cosmetic dental procedures include:
Whitening is often a first step in cosmetically altering your teeth and may be the only procedure necessary as other minor imperfections become less significant with a whiter smile. Dr. Citrin is proud to offer the radically new Zoom!™ in-office tooth whitening system that uses a full-mouth whitening light combined with a revolutionary light-activated gel to lighten teeth 6 to 10 shades in about an hour.

If your teeth are chipped, discolored, have small gaps between them or are slightly crooked, porcelain veneers may be an option. As the name suggests, veneers are thin porcelain shells that are bonded onto the front of your teeth to effectively hide these problems. They can be used to change the shape, length, thickness and color of a tooth. Porcelain veneers are more expensive than resin bonded dental veneers. However, they look better, last longer and won't stain.

Bonding is a cosmetic procedure for improving chipped or broken teeth, but is less successful than veneers in the treatment of some problems. This is when a tooth-colored, putty-like substance is molded to the tooth. Bonding is set in place using ultra-violet light referred to as "white light." It is then shaped and polished.

Composite fillings are a cosmetic alternative to traditional amalgam fillings. They are made of a composite material that matches the color of your teeth. Each layer of the composite material is hardened by exposure to a special light. Our patients tell us they like composite fillings for their natural appearance. Unlike amalgam, composite fillings contain no mercury and bond better to your teeth.

Dental crowns are cosmetic restorations that cover and encase the tooth on which they are cemented. Sometimes called "dental caps" or "tooth caps," they are used to rebuild broken or badly decayed teeth and to improve the appearance of teeth. Made of high quality ceramic or porcelain, dental crowns are durable and closely resemble the appearance of natural teeth.

Permanent bridges (sometimes called "fixed bridges") can replace one or more missing teeth. These dental bridges are permanently anchored, so they feel like natural teeth. When several teeth are missing, or teeth are too badly decayed to restore with crowns, a permanent bridge may be the best option. You can brush them, floss them and take care of permanent bridges just like your natural teeth.

Dental implants are the most successful thing we do in cosmetic dentistry. They replace missing teeth by using a special anchor, made from titanium, which is carefully placed where your original teeth used to be. After a short healing period, beautiful new replacement teeth can be attached to the implant. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, dental implants actually prevent bone loss. All the things you used to be able to do with your natural teeth can be done again with implants!

Porcelain onlays are used to treat tooth decay that extends to one or more of the cusps. The onlays are created from durable, tooth-colored porcelain, which makes them virtually undetectable to the naked eye. Because their use requires minimal removal a tooth's surface, they help to conserve more of the natural tooth structure. Porcelain onlays are more aesthetically appealing than gold or silver fillings, and they help patients with extensive tooth decay to avoid the need for more extensive dental restorations such as a full crown.

Lumineers™ are a wonderful cosmetic solution for permanently stained, chipped, discolored or misaligned teeth. They can even revitalize old crown and bridgework. Lumineers are a new, state-of-the-art porcelain veneer. They can be placed over existing teeth without requiring the removal of sensitive tooth structure. In just two or three office visits, Lumineers provide a custom-made smile clinically proven to last up to 20 years.
