Digital Impression System

Many patients dread the mess and the unpleasant taste associated with traditional impression taking. Digital impressions replace the old tray and putty method with a digital scan that is translated into a precise, three dimensional model of the teeth.

Here's how iTero™ works: By using a hand-held device to optically scan the area to be restored, the entire impression is created digitally with no mess and no bad taste. Once the impression is digitally captured, it can be viewed on screen for accuracy. The digital impression is then translated into a physical model. The model can then be sent to a laboratory where a dental restoration such as a crown is fabricated. Digital impressions are more convenient and result in better dental restorations.

Digital Radiography

Compared to traditional dental x-rays, digital radiography is superior. In addition to being more environmentally friendly, digital images provide more data to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

XDR™ is a complete dental imaging system with intraoral sensors, high quality capture, advanced imaging filters and more. Patented bi-directional scaling allows more accurate measurements in any direction. With the XDR system, images can be viewed immediately, without having to wait to develop x-rays. Patients are not exposed to high levels of radiation. Digital images are stored and transferred electronically. The XDR system takes dental x-rays and radiography to the next level.

Personal Audio System

Imagine a dental procedure while listening to Mozart or The Rolling Stones instead of hearing the sound of the drill, the suction machine or Dr. Citrin singing.

The iPod™ audio system delivers pure, all-digital sound to patients during fillings, scanning and other routine dental procedures. Patients simply glide into the dental chair, slip on the iPod stereo headphones, relax and enjoy their favorite music. The personal audio system really helps reduce anxiety. Patients feel much better when they can hear music rather than the procedure. The iPod turns a visit to the dentist into a comfortable, personalized experience.

Electric Handpiece

Modern dental technology has come a long way from the old belt-driven drill. Today, most dentists use air-driven or electric handpieces that are much faster and more efficient than drills of the past.

The electric handpiece has several advantages over the air-driven drill. Electric handpieces are quiet, run more smoothly and are less irritating to patients. This cuts down on the time it takes to complete a procedure. That loud, high-pitched noise of some air turbine drills is replaced by the quiet, consistent and efficient sound of the electric motor. With the electric handpiece, we can repair cavities and perform restorative procedure faster and more comfortably for our patients.

Diagnodent

Diagnodent™ is a new instrument that allows us to detect early and hidden tooth decay. Hard enamel can conceal early decay. Diagnodent operates by means of a laser light. The light is passed via an optical fiber to the area of decay. The decayed area fluoresces, and this fluorescence passes back to the probe. Hidden decay is immediately detected and displayed both visibly and audibly.

Diagnodent technology enables us to detect the earliest signs of dental decay. Early diagnosis permits us to plan suitable, preventive treatment. This technology enables us to provide minimally invasive and tooth-preserving dental procedures. Diagnodent allows us to catch tooth decay early, before it causes a painful cavity. Diagnodent is great for children and anxious patients. It often eliminates the need for sharp probing, needles and drilling normally required for treating decay.

The Wand / Painless Injections

The Wand™ is a computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery system. Its use has been proven to be more comfortable for patients.

The Wand is as effective as the traditional syringe technique in the delivery of local anesthesia and provides a more comfortable experience for the patient. When receiving an injection, the needle is not the major cause of pain. It is the pressure from the liquid anesthetic as it flows into the tissue that causes the greatest discomfort. The Wand keeps the pressure of the injection below the threshold level of pressure that causes pain. The Wand is great for administering painless injections.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide is a sedative gas administered to some patients before undergoing dental procedures. It is useful for anxious or fearful patients as well as children.

Nitrous oxide is administered with a comfortable mask placed over the nose, and the patient is instructed to breathe in through the nose and out through their mouth. After the gas is adjusted to the appropriate dose and the patient is relaxed and sedated, the dentist proceeds with treatment. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective anesthetic in dental procedures of short duration. It produces relaxation and reduced sensitivity to pain. There are many benefits to nitrous oxide sedation.
